Private Postojna Cave, Predjama Castle and Karst Region Tour – from Ljubljana

The full-day tour includes a day in the karst region, exploring its rich underground and interesting architecture.

We start with the visit to the Postojna Cave, a 20 km-long karst cave system, a web of underground passages, galleries and chambers. A ride on an electric mini train will take you further into the caves and a guide will lead you through the fascinating chambers rich in various forms of stalactites and stalagmites.

Only 10 km further, perched on a 123 meters high cliff, stands the Predjama Castle, more than 700 years old. A view of the renovated castle rooms and their furnishings gives the visitor an idea of how people once lived and worked in the castle.

Continuing to Štanjel, this little karst village on hilltop remains up to this day. Throughout history, first the Romans turned the top of the hill into an ancient fort, while in the Middle Ages the village expanded over the hill. The most dominant features of the village are the Castle and the Church of St. Daniel. While walking through the narrow streets, the houses built in stone are telling you the story of the life there.
